Streamlink is a command-line utility (with a Python library) that extracts video streams from services like Twitch and YouTube and pipes them into a video player (VLC by default), avoiding the resource overhead of a full browser and web player. Built on a plugin system supporting most popular streaming services, forked in 2016 from the abandoned Livestreamer project.
