san

Open-source terminal agent runtime: one 12 MB Go binary, ~0.01s cold start, provider-agnostic.

Desktopfreeglobal

San is a free, open-source terminal agent runtime built as a single 12 MB Go binary with zero runtime dependencies, cold-starting in about 0.01 seconds and connecting to a dozen-plus model providers including local Ollama. Everything the model touches — system prompt, skills, subagents, MCP servers — is owned, editable text rather than baked into the binary, and an inspector replays any run exactly as the model saw it. Benchmarked against Claude Code on the same model, it measures 5x smaller, 20x faster to start, and about 9x leaner in harness context overhead, aimed at developers who want a lightweight, fully customizable terminal coding agent.
