Read-it-later app that helped millions save articles and discover stories; Pocket has shut down.
Pocket was a read-it-later app that helped millions save articles and discover stories worth reading. After Mozilla acquired Pocket in 2017, Mozilla invested in content curation and recommendation capabilities. Over the past eight years, Pocket expanded high-quality content recommendations to more than a dozen countries and five languages, connecting tens of millions of people each month with articles. Pocket has shut down; Mozilla says it will channel resources into other projects and continue its commitment to high-quality content recommendations in Firefox, using machine learning plus human editorial oversight. The announcement notes built-in browser features like Tab Groups and enhanced bookmarks now provide ways to manage reading lists.
