UNC-Chapel Hill recycling service for mixed paper, confidential document pickup/destruction, and hardback book
Facilities Services at UNC-Chapel Hill provides mixed paper recycling bins and a confidential paper recycling pickup service. Mixed paper guidelines: keep paper dry, no smaller than a credit card, paper clips and staples are acceptable, remove rubber bands and binder clips. Confidential pickup: place confidential paper in boxes labeled "Confidential Recycling", securely taped, boxes no larger than 24" x 10" x 12" (larger boxes charged as two), and request pickup via the online confidential paper pickup request. There is a $10 charge per box for pickup and destruction; confidential paper is collected on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Shredded paper must be bagged separately in clear plastic bags and can be collected as part of regular indoor recycling. Hardback books are accepted for recycling; if in good condition, donation to University Surplus, local libraries, or thrift stores is suggested.
