Advanced Exclude

Brings gitignore-style syntax to Obsidian's excluded files setting

Pluginfree

Advanced Exclude is a free, open-source Obsidian plugin that fixes the limitations of Obsidian's built-in Excluded files setting, where excluded files still show up in the Files pane, Backlinks, and search. It adds gitignore-style pattern syntax and actually excludes matched files from all of those surfaces. It's for Obsidian users who need certain files — like templates, scripts, or private notes — genuinely hidden from search and backlinks, not just cosmetically excluded.
