jit
macOS tool that moves plaintext secrets behind Touch ID, injected just in time for tools.
Desktopfree
jit is a free macOS tool that finds plaintext secrets scattered across a machine, such as .env files, AWS credentials, shell exports, and MCP configs, and moves them into a local encrypted vault gated by Touch ID. It rewrites the original files so existing tools keep working, while the real secret value only appears in memory, after a biometric prompt, for the specific process that requested it. It currently supports Apple Silicon Macs only.
