FieldCut is a local, self-hosted web app that takes a raw field-recorded interview and turns it into a rough cut: it transcribes the audio with word-level timestamps and optional speaker detection, lets the user mark and cut clips, add narration, and assemble everything into one file. It is built for radio journalists and podcast producers who work with field recordings and want to avoid switching between several separate tools. Transcription runs through the OpenAI Whisper API, which costs about $0.006 per minute of audio.
