DataCharter

Local, federated data explorer that governs exactly what data an AI agent can query.

Desktopfree

DataCharter is a local-first data explorer, built on DuckDB, that lets users query local files and remote databases together in one SQL statement, then connect an AI agent with fine-grained control over exactly which sources, tables, or columns it can see. Personally identifiable data is masked by default, every agent query is logged in a tamper-evident audit trail, and a built-in red-team command tests the user's own access rules for gaps. It is aimed at data engineers and teams who want to give an AI agent real data access without losing control over what it can read.
