SpeakThat is a free, open-source Android app that reads incoming notifications aloud using the device's built-in text-to-speech engine, with fine-grained control over which apps, words and situations trigger a readout. It offers a private mode that announces only the app name, shake-to-stop, and automation rules based on time, network or connected Bluetooth devices, with all processing happening locally. It targets Android users, including those with visual impairments, who rely on hearing notifications rather than checking the screen constantly.
